Tanzania and Rwanda’s Untouched Wilderness President’s Pick

“The definition of East Africa has been evolving and with that, the definition of Tanzania safari along with it. The southern part of this country has fascinated me for the longest time. Watching areas like Ruaha get classified as the new Serengeti in some markets is beyond satisfying, and new flight options and routes allow us to combine various parts of Tanzania in a fashion not possible before while still take advantage of the unique access between the Serengeti and Kigali. Wildlife, Chimpanzees and Gorillas all in one safari. That is the real East Africa”

Today on arrival in Kilimanjaro, you are met by the Big Five representative and given VIP arrival assistance after which you will proceed to connect your charter flight directly to Ruaha where on arrival you are met by a guide from Asilia and driven to your accommodation.

Jabali Ridge is a stylish camp in the wildlife-rich Ruaha National Park, set on a rocky outcrop overlooking the Mwagusi River and Ikuka escarpment.

A landscape of sun-bleached plains, mighty baobabs and hardy shrubs, Ruaha is home to large numbers of lion, elephant, buffalo and even endangered African wild dogs.

Three full days for scheduled safari activities with the camp guide.

After a morning game drive and lunch, spend your afternoon cooling off in the infinity pool with a drink in hand or head to our spa for a rejuvenating treatment before your afternoon activity. Dinner is served al fresco under a blanket of stars.

Hot-air balloon safaris (seasonal and at an additional cost) require an early start, but the sight of the sunrise over the majestic baobab-studded landscape of Ruaha will richly reward you. There are few better ways to appreciate the vastness of this beautiful landscape than from above.

(Charter Flight)

Today you are transferred by charter flight from Ruaha National Park to Mahale National Park. On arrival you are met by a guide from Nomad Tanzania and transferred to your accommodation.

Come on a legendary journey to meet the most privileged primates on the planet: the wild chimpanzees of Mahale and the trackers, guides and helpers who share their leafy Nirvana. In the forest’s dappled sunlight, chimpanzees romp and commune around Greystoke Mahale. At the lakeshore, on a white beach, Greystoke opens its shaggy arms, hewn from vintage dhows, offering yet another level of pleasure to all intrepid guests.

Day 5-Day 7: Mahale National Park
Full day for scheduled safari activities with the camp guide.

The main quest is always on foot to a wild living group of chimpanzees, whose complex social and political maneuverings are played out within a few feet of the tour groups. On winding forest trails, guides show life beyond the chimpanzees; nine other species of primate alone, insects unseen elsewhere, a pharmacopeia of medicinal plants.

Using the natural bow shape of the river and paying homage to the circular forms of a traditional Masai manyatta, the lodge unfolds to reveal an understated sense of luxury.
