Day 1: Jakarta, Indonesia
Upon arrival at Soekarno Hatta International Airport in Jakarta, you will be met and greeted by our representative who will assist and transfer you to your hotel in the city for check-in. Transfer duration is approximately an hour and a half, depending on traffic conditions. Situated right next door to the Indonesia Stock Exchange, across Pacific Place, in the heart of Jakarta’s corporate and financial hub, the hotel stands against a backdrop of the city’s most iconic office towers, upmarket retail, dining and nightlife.
Alila’s green efforts extend beyond the operational aspects of the resorts to create a positive impact on the community – economically, socially and culturally. This includes employing local people from surrounding areas, developing the local workforce through skills training, using products and services from local suppliers, as well as educating guests on local culture and tradition. Day 2: Jakarta / Kumai / Borneo
This morning, your guide will pick you up for your transfer to CGK Airport to take your flight to Pangkalan Bun. Upon arrival, your guide greets you then you’ll take a direct 20-minute transfer to Kumai. Upon your arrival in Kumai, take a direct transfer to the houseboat where lunch will be provided on board. After boating down Kumai River approximately 15 minutes, you reach Seikonyer River, the main river in Tanjung Puting National Park. Cruising up the Seikonyer River, you will see beautiful foliage around the riverbank, Nipa Palm, Pandanus, and other native trees that grow up around the river. Enjoy seeing the wildlife such as birds, Macaque, Proboscis Monkey and Orangutan. If time permits, you can visit the Orangutan feeding in Tanjung Harapan before returning to the houseboat. Continue boating up to observe the Proboscis monkeys along the riverbanks. Proboscis monkeys are endemic to the jungles of Borneo, never straying far from the island’s rivers, coastal mangroves, and swamps. Day 3: Borneo
After breakfast, cruise upriver to Pondok Tanggui, the second rehabilitation center for orangutans. Join the morning feeding at the center and enjoy some time with these intelligent animals before returning to the houseboat. Your journey continues to Camp Leakey, the highlight of the national park. You pass the Black River along the way where you can spot many varieties of birds, primates and fish as well as crocodiles. Lunch is served onboard before arriving at Camp Leakey. Here you visit the information center to see the work of Dr. Birute Galdikas, who has studied the orangutan here since 1971, and continues his work today. Trek into the forest to see the orangutans feeding. After you return to your houseboat in the afternoon, enjoy at cruise down to the Nipa Palm area, where this evening you savor the sight of thousands of fireflies twinkling in the night. Day 4: Borneo / Kumai / Jakarta
Very early this morning, around 4:00 a.m., start cruising down to Kumai for a direct transfer to Pangkalan Bun airport for your flight to Jakarta. Upon arrival, you are picked up by your guide and transferred to your hotel, where the remainder of the day is at leisure to enjoy the facilities of your hotel, do a bit of shopping or simply relax. Day 5: Jakarta / Labuan Bajo
This morning, you are picked up by the guide for your transfer to Jakarta Airport (CGK) for your flight to Labuan Bajo, a fishing town at the western end of the large island of Flores in the Nusa Tenggara region of east Indonesia. It is the capital of the West Manggarai Regency (Kabupaten Manggarai Barat), one of the eight regencies that are the major administrative divisions of Flores. Upon arrival, you are met by your guide and then transferred to your hotel in Labuan Bajo for check-in to the only five-star resort on Labuan Bajo’s exquisite Waecicu Beach, one of the most rugged and beautiful islands in Indonesia’s archipelago. Amenities include several pools, a gym, boutique shop, and fine dining restaurants.
The resort has a series of initiatives to protect the resort’s surrounding land and sea while actively educating guests on the importance of sustainability and environmental consciousness. The 205-room property has a marine biology expert on staff to study the reef’s biodiversity, lead excursions and provide education and awareness workshops. Ayana Kid’s Club offer a series of activities including weekly coral planting programs. The club also features craft activities using recycled material and invite families to participate in beach clean ups. The hotel visits schools to educate the next generation on the importance of proper rubbish disposal and caring for marine life. Food is locally sourced including fresh fish provided by local fishermen and delivered directly to the resort’s Naga Pier. Day 6: Labuan Bajo
Early this morning, your driver picks you up from your hotel to transfer you to your boat for an exploration of some of the islands. You are welcomed by the staff and served a welcome drink, before you begin your cruise to Padar Island, the third largest island in Komodo National Park. This uninhabited island’s stunning scenery attracts hikers, snorkelers and sunbathers. A short a climb for about 20 minutes presents you with panoramic views. After trekking, set sail to Komodo Island.
Enjoy a luncheon before going ashore to the ranger house on Komodo Island. A walk around the islands gives you a closer look at the legendary Komodo dragons of the Island. Along with the dragons you see deer, wild boar and a variety of birds. Afterwards, indulge in some spectacular snorkeling and relax at Pink Beach. The underwater views are stunning with bright tropical fish and healthy, vibrant coral reefs. The drop off part of the reefs offer the best snorkeling on this island. Day 7: Labuan Bajo
The day is free to relax, enjoy the resort facilities, or optional activities. Spend the morning cruising calm seas aboard an elegant 54-meter phinisi yacht; relax at Flores Spa with a Labuan Bajo massage; go trekking, kayaking, glass bottom boat rides, scuba diving, snorkeling, marine walks, hiking and night diving. Day 8: Labuan Bajo / Sumba, Bali
After you check out of your hotel, you are transferred to LBJ airport for your flight to Tambolaka via Bali. Upon arrival, you are welcomed and transferred by road an hour and a half to the resort. After check-in. relax and savor the rest of the day at leisure. Nihi Sumba Island Resort (B,D)
Days 9/10: Sumba
Enjoy your breakfast at the resort’s restaurant. The rest of the day is free at leisure, you can enjoy the facilities of the resort, take a surf lesson alongside world-class instructors or hike into local villages, go kitesurfing or fishing. You can witness more of the wild and vibrant culture through a visit to the local villages and markets to see local arts and crafts or monumental megalithic burial sites and the exquisite Ikat weavings, famous all over the world.
Visit the Sumba Foundation, a US-based nonprofit, nongovernmental public charity dedicated to reducing the oppressive impact of poverty on Sumba through humanitarian aid. On this remote island, villagers seek basic needs that the western world deems as normal – water, health and education. Meet children whose eyesight has been restored with the help of volunteers. The foundation was established to protect and preserve the unique Sumbanese culture and empower the local communities. The aim is to provide humanitarian aid through village-based projects that impact local health by establishing access to clean water, creating educational programs and lessening the effects of malaria as well as preserving the culture and traditions of the Sumbanese people. Day 11: Sumba / Denpasar / Bali

This morning is free leisure until you are picked up from the resort at the appropriate time for your departure transfer to the airport to catch your international flight to your next destination. (B)
