James Mutua Nkomu
James Mutua Nkomu was born in Nairobi, Kenya, the fifth of five children. He grew up in the city, but his family’s rural home is in Machakos in the northeastern region of the country, a little over 100 miles from the capital. He attended St. John’s Primary School in Nairobi from 1981 to 1988 before going on to Ruiru High School. James’ passion for wildlife emerged that lead him to attend the Kenya Utalii College for a three-year diploma course in tour operation. After graduation in 1996, he joined Big Five in the position of an airport rep and city guide. Today, James is involved in meeting clients, carrying tour briefings and escorting safari groups. He enjoys working with clients and is a valued member of Big Five’s ops management team.
